To become a Data Engineer, you must:
- Love data, analysis, technology and programming
- Understand the importance of big data for modern technology, research, government, and business
- Have a basic qualification in object-oriented programming on at least one popular open-source platform. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology will work very well
- Know about databases, data structures and RDBMS
- Learn how to use at least one language in the category of Python
- Acquire a certification like ABDE™ or SBDE™, which is vendor-neutral, cross-platform or platform-agnostic
- Create a portfolio of big data applications you have developed, and make them available on source code hosting portals like GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket and SourceForge
- Apply to technology companies developing tools and applications or providing data analytics services and solutions in the
SaaS mode
